A Ride On The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway

We took a 13 mile ride in the adults-only car on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway from Blue Ridge to McCaysville, GA & Copperhill, TN. The leisurely ride took an hour each way (that means we went about 13 miles an hour!) and we got to stop, eat, shop and browse in the two little towns on the border of Georgia and Tennessee.

On the ride back we were serenaded by some 11-year-old girls who were learning traditional Applachian bluegrass music through a program supported by area musicians. The school district didn't have money in the budget for music, so area musicians teach the students themselves!
